Techniques, Texture and Composition in painting workshop with Lynne Cunningham

"North Rim Aspens", acrylic on paper

"Experiment in Acrylic Paints, and learn to compose better paintings",
March 2nd and March 9th.
Davis, California
This is a fun class for experimentation in acrylic! We'll be painting on gessoed watercolor paper while learning this flexible and spontaneous painting medium--experience how exciting the potential is for your paintings. Along with technique, we explore design and composition in paintings through discussion, definition, and in-class exercises.

The full range of water-based acrylics will be demonstrated, using it thick like oil or in watercolorlike washes and glazes. Strenghen your paintings with composition; learn painterly effects of atmosphere, texture, drama, spontaneity and the key to acrylics: blending edges. Technique is emphasized, not acrylic mediums or additives.

One requirement: you must know how to mix color and/or the color wheel. Open to interested artists, ages 18+. Best for painters with some experience.

Lately I've been painting and drawing figurative  . . . people, animals and birds.  It's a new exciting subject for me as an artist, so much focus on landscape in the past.  Recently it's been the right time to dive into figurative:  portraits and the entire figure.  Look for more to follow!

"Hello Evening" landscape by gerald schwartz

This new painting all came together with lots of photographs and the crazies in my mind... I am always painting inside my head.   This never ending procession of images that float by all day is why I paint, they are stories I must put to canvas.    You can see this and more at Daily Art
